Meet Xavier,
Owner and Lead Photographer
I started my photography journey in 2016. I was asked by my previous co-worker what I wanted to do aside from working at my current job — he said it was always good to have a backup plan. He was a barber outside of being a biology teacher full time, who had the goal of opening a barber school and chain of barbershops. It was a question that I hadn’t put much thought into but since he brought it up, I dug a little deeper into my interests. I thought to myself: When I was younger I would always see pictures or places, and think to myself, “man, this is beautiful.” I would always think of ways that a photo could be captured and how it would be cool to save that exact moment in time, forever.
After that, I tried to find anything to take pictures of with my iPhone and even bought a set of lenses for phone camera. One day my co-worker saw me using the lenses and asked me to help him find creative ways to take pictures for his business. After I gave him some pointers he challenged me to create a business of my own with photography.
Then, I “went for broke” and bought my first camera that I never let leave my side. I spent months photographing everything in sight and finally had my first couple ask me to take their engagement photos. That was the day that I found my true passion in photography.
Needless to say, I accepted his challenge and created Jamison Photography.
